Samuel Shapiro & Company, Inc., a leader in global transportation and regulatory compliance, recently announced their plan to host a drawback seminar for importers and exporters in Baltimore, MD, on August 11, 2011.

The half-day seminar, which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., will cover drawback and how the program can give companies the competitive edge by recovering up to 99% of duties paid on previously imported goods. The class will cover the various types of drawback and the timeframes involved for companies to take advantage of refunds of duties. “Many companies are not aware of the opportunities available to them through drawback,” said Jane Taeger, Director of Compliance for Samuel Shapiro & Company, Inc. “Both importers and exporters can greatly benefit from this program.” The guest speaker will be from C.J.
Holt & Co., Inc., the nation’s oldest drawback provider and recognized expert in drawback law.

Following the seminar, attendees are invited to join Shapiro for the annual Propeller Club Crab Feast in the afternoon. The Baltimore Crab Feast attracts over 4,000 people annually and is arguably the most popular industry event of the year. It draws participants from New York to Norfolk and beyond to enjoy all-you+can-eat steamed crabs and plentiful networking opportunities at Conrad Ruth’s Villa, a waterfront park on Middle River. The feast is a fundraiser for the Propeller Club, enabling the group to make significant contributions to various non-profit maritime organizations.

Importers and exporters that want to attend are asked to call Jane Taeger by phone at 800-695-9465 ext.290 or by email at [email protected]. Interested parties can also visit Shapiro online at http://www.shapiro.com/html/2011Drawback.html for registration and more information.
