USTR Issues Revised List of EU Products Subject to Section 301 TariffsUSTR Issues Revised List of EU Products Subject to Section 301 Tariffs
- August 13, 2020
As you are already aware, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) imposed Section 301 tariffs on $7.5 billion worth of European goods in response to the European Union’s (EU) subsidization of Airbus in October 2019.
Although the USTR already modified the list of EU products subject to additional tariffs earlier this year, the USTR announced it would open a 30-day comment period for the trade community between June 26 and July 26 to determine whether the current rate of additional duty should be increased to as high as 100% going forward, or remain as is.
As a result of their investigation, the USTR has now issued a revised list of EU products subject to Section 301 tariffs effective September 1, 2020.
According to officials, “the changes are modest; the amount of products subject to countermeasures will remain unchanged at $7.5 billion and the tariff rates will remain unchanged at 15% for aircraft and 25% for all other products.”
