USTR Announces Tariffs on Certain French Goods Effective January 2021 | Samuel Shapiro & Company, Inc.

On July 10, 2020, the U.S. Trade Representative announced additional 25% duties on certain French goods in response to France’s Digital Services Tax (DST), which has been said to heavily interfere with the interests of U.S. internet and software giants operating in France.

According to the USTR, the additional duties will be suspended for up to 180 days. At this time, they are scheduled to go into effect on January 6, 2021.

If the USTR decides to move up the date before the 180-day moratorium ends, it will publish another notice.
